THE SECOND SPEEDMASTER MEETING IN VIENNA,
OCTOBER 14TH 2017
A few months ago, our friend Markus – aka vintagewatchzilla for the watch collectors world – organized a Speedmaster meeting in Vienna. This event has been a huge success, and he decided to set up another meeting in October. Markus was so kind to invite us again, unfortunately we didn’t manage to be in Vienna. But we are happy to share the pictures of the meeting with all Speedmaster fans.

This time, Markus teamed up with OMEGA.
The first guests arrived on Friday evening in Vienna and the crazyness started. The idea “Let’s have a quick drink” ended somewhere after midnight and everybody was excited for the main event as the agenda was a secret.
After a short night, it all started Saturday morning at 10 am with a sittin’ in a coffeebar and a beautiful weather. From there, people went to the Vienna Clock Museum which hosts the most important collection of clocks in Europe. The exhibition is really impressive for anybody interested in the history of watchmaking art, and a lot of incredible pieces are displayed.
The second phase of the journey started with a little walk through the old town of Vienna, on the way to the OMEGA boutique / museum. The OMEGA Brand Manager for Austria and the Boutique Manager welcomed the guests with snacks and drinks. The Vienna OMEGA Team is famous for its kindness and charme. Luckily the museum had been privatized for the group: that was perfect and allowed everyone to spend 1-2 hours enjoying the new exhibition.
Next meeting was in a 5 star hotel in a private meeting room, which had been prepared tastefully with a special gift from OMEGA, and again a lot of snacks and drinks. People prepared their watches, and the first unexpected surprise happened when Markus presented a video from Raynald Aeschlimann, CEO of OMEGA. He recorded it especially for this event and held an awesome speech. Furthermore, the OMEGA Brand Manager introduced a very nice selection of the latest models, as the 60th Anniversary Edition for instance. OMEGA collectors brought with them amazing and rare pieces, vintage or recent, all in incredible condition: a NOS Darth Vader, the rarest white gold Speedies, two Alaska 4 prototypes, three Ultraman, a Military Prototype, a 1969 racing dial … just to name a few of them. As usual the geek level raised with a lot of discussions and analysis, and an immediate flow of pictures and videos published on Instagram.
At around 7 pm, everything calmed a little bit down and the group went for a brilliant dinner with Schnitzel (what else), before ending up at the bar with nice live music until 1 am.
Sunday morning the guys met for a brunch on a roof top terrasse and spent the rest of the day relaxing, enjoying 23 degrees and an incredible sun.
